In The Dark [By Britt]

In the Dark
By Britt
You yelp, diving under your covers.

Thunder rumbles above your head and the room lights up with a blast of lightning.

"Holy shit," you say, curling into a ball.

You grip your knees tightly as the rain begins to pound on the ceiling.

There's a knock at your door, but you don't dare come out from your haven.

"What?" you ask.

"What...what are you doing?"

"I'm freaking out, Kevin, what's it look like?" you ask, hearing him in your room.

"Why?" Kevin asks, obviously amused.

"I'm afraid of storms," you say quietly.

"Hm?"

"I'm afraid of storms - ahh!" you shriek as the house shakes from a blow of thunder.

"What the hell?" Kevin laughs, and you feel his weight on your bed.

"Shut up or get out," you growl.

He was silent and you sigh.

"I'm sorry, Kevin. Not many people know I'm afraid of them, and the ones that do make fun of me."

You lower the covers slightly and look at him. His hair is damp, fresh from the shower, he's in pajamas and his head is tilted as he looks down at you.

"I wouldn't make fun of you," he says softly.

The lightning bursts into the room again and you jump. Shutting your eyes tightly as the thunder rumbles, you feel the bed shift again. The covers move and you feel yourself get noticably warmer. You open your eyes and come face to face with Kevin.

"Why are you afraid?" he asks, curling up slightly under the covers with you, his head resting on his arm.

"Oh, uh, it's stupid probably."

"Obviously not if you're still scared. Tell me," he says gently.

You look at him and then sigh. He was one of your best friends, after all.

"When I was eight it was storming really bad and my brother locked me out of the house. I was stuck in that horrible storm for almost an hour before my mom got home and let me in. Now I hate storms and I hate being alone during them. I just never feel safe or relaxed," you explain.

"Your brother's a jerk for doing that. It's understandable why you're so scared, but...aren't you tired of being afraid?"

"Yes. But it's been a phobia for twelve years. I don't see it being very easy to get rid...of," you say, trailing off as thunder rumbles again.

"There's nothing to be afraid of. It's nature giving the world a bath."

"Clever," you applaud.

"I try," Kevin smiles, looking at you.

"Kevin, why are you here?" you suddenly ask.

"What?" Kevin asks.

"Why'd you come in here? No boys allowed in girls' rooms after ten, remember? What if there's a room check by Rob?" you ask.

"When has Rob ever done a room check?" Kevin asks you curiously.

"You're avoiding the question," you tell him.

"I know," Kevin sighs.

"What? What is it? What's wrong?"

"Nothing's...wrong. I was just in my room...thinking. Then I heard the thunder and knew I would be up for awhile so I decided to come...visit."

His eyes flicked away from yours, and you knew he was lying.

"Liar."

"I am...not," Kevin says.

"Right, and I'm - Jesus!" you scream, grabbing Kevin's shirt as thunder makes the pictures on your wall shake.

"You're not Jesus," Kevin tells you, smiling.

"Shut up," you whine, your face in his shoulder.

"It's okay to be afraid," he says, and you feel his hand rest on your upper back.

"Good."

You shake slightly as the thunder becomes more frequent, and your heart begins to pound.

"But it's also okay to relax," Kevin says into your ear over the thunder.

You feel his body tense slightly as you remain silent, so you lean your head back and look at him.
Your eyes lock onto each other and you see the emotion in his eyes. His tounge touches his lips as he wets them, and you feel a pull at your heart.
It's quite in the room for a moment, the only sound coming from your breaths. Jumping at a sharp clap of thunder, you move closer to him and shut your eyes. The thunder stops and the rain begins to knock at your window. Your breath catches in your throat when you feel Kevin's warm hand on your cheek.
Opening your eyes, you notice your faces are mere inches from each other. His thumb moves along your cheek and across your bottom lip, making you shiver. You swallow as urges rush through your body, and you just stare at him. You stay like that for a moment, before Kevin moves his hand behind your neck and brings your lips to his.
The kiss is hot and deep, your tounges touching quickly. Kevin's tounge runs along yours and you close your mouth, sucking on his tounge. You hear him moan quietly, and feel your body respond. Your hands run up his chest and you tug him forward. Kevin moves until he's on top of you, and you release his tounge and kiss him again. You run a hand through his damp hair and tug gently on his curls. His body presses into yours and you feel his heart beating quickly. The kiss is broken and Kevin kisses your neck, his hot breath dampening your skin. You feel his tounge swirl around a newly made hickey and you bite your bottom lip.
Thunder claps from above and you jump, your fingers digging into his shoulders. He lets your skin go, raises up on his hands and looks at you, his eyes gentle.

"It's okay. I'm right here."

You nod slightly and pull him back to you, the warmth from his body relaxing you. He kisses you again, gently this time, and you get lost in the kiss.
You don't care that he's one of your best friends.

You don't care that this could damage your relationship with him or anyone else in his family.

You just don't care.

You love him and you always have.

The gentle kiss is deepened again and your wrap your arms around his shoulders. His white t-shirt is thin and you run your fingers along the fabric, feeling the tight muscles underneath. Your fingers work their way down under you reach the hem of his shirt. You slip your hands under his shirt and he grunts into your mouth, your hands obviously cold.

"Sorry," you whisper against his lips, tugging on his bottom lip.

"Mm," he replies, flinching as your hands move up his stomach and chest.

He runs his tounge along your upper lip, tracing it, and then kisses you again. Moving your hands, you trail your fingers down his back, pressing firmly as you get to his lower back. His hips press into yours and you gasp quietly, feeling a hardness. Kevin hesitates against your lips, knowing what you've felt. You bite your lip, the feeling strange, and lift your hips up slightly. Kevin breathes out sharply against your lips, and you smile.

"Wow," you murmur.

Your hands grip his hips gently and you hold him still, lifting your hips again.

"Ahh," Kevin groans, the friction sending a chill up his spine.

Your hands release his hips and your fingers move up and down his back gently as you kiss him lightly a few times. His skin heats up under your fingers and you feel him press his hips into yours. Kevin kisses you fully and you moan quietly as you feel his hips shift forward. Your feel a rush of heat through you, and part your legs until your knees are resting against Kevin's hips.
He feels the heat of you after the adjustment and he grits his teeth, pulling away from the kiss.
The hardness behind his thin flannel pants presses into your core and you let out a breath. You hear him swallow from above you and you gently rake your nails down his back to see what would happen. His hips jerk as thunder booms from above and you let out a startled yelp. He lifts up off of you slightly, not sure which was the reason you yelped.

"Th-Thunder," you say.

Kevin nods slightly and kisses your cheek, lying back on top of you. The air is hot and sticky as you breathe from under the covers, his lips attacking the flesh of your neck.

"You want air?" Kevin asks, his hips resting gently on yours.

"No, I...kind of like it," you reply, tilting your head and giving him access to more skin.

His tounge runs along your collarbones, and you lift your hips up sharply. You moan softly at the contact and hear Kevin's breathing increase. His hips tip back into yours and you sigh. Digging your fingers back into his skin, you grip his hips and pull them against yours.

"You're so hard," you breathe into his ear.

Kevin grinds his hips against yours in response, and you both moan at the feeling. Your feet rest on the back of his thighs, your toes digging in slightly as his hips grind against you again.

"Mmm," you moan, your chest arching into his.

Kevin kisses your neck again and then kisses your lips. You leave a hand on his back, feeling the dampness of his skin, and bring the other one to his face. You feel his flushed skin as you touch his cheek and then lift your hand into his hair, tugging it gently. Playing with the curls on the back of his neck, you feel him shiver. His hips roll into yours, adding new friction, and you find yourself circling your hips in response.

"Kevin," you moan, your body responding to him like you could have never imagined.

"What do you want?" he asks quietly, moving his hips in large, slow circles.

"Just...don't stop. This feels good," you say, closing your eyes in pleasure.

"You didn't answer my question," Kevin says, kissing you deeply for a moment before pulling back.

"I want...you to go faster," you say, feeling mildly uncomfortable.

You feel his hardness twitch against you and you grind up into him.

"God," he breathes, his forehead becoming damp with sweat.

As requested he moves faster, his hips circling and jerking awkwardly. You moan, your head tipping back into the mattress. His hair is still in your fingers and you release it, both hands moving under his shirt and gripping his shoulders.

"I'm...."

Kevin's breathing becomes labored and he stops talking.

"What?" you ask, licking your lips as he jerks against you.

"Uh, getting...cl-close," he says against your lips, and you feel his face heat up as he blushes.

You kiss him softly, not sure how to respond.

"I can't stop if you-"

"No," you say, shaking your head.

"N-No?"

"Don't stop, Kevin, you feel so good," you breathe into his ear.

He whimpers at your words, but you feel his hips move a little quicker.

"There," you groan, your knees spreading slightly.

"Ohh," Kevin moans, his hips jerking at an angle.

You feel your body beginning to tense as his hips drive into yours, and you can't stop moaning from the friction.

"You're going to wake...the house...up," Kevin breathes, moving against you at a steady pace.

You bite your lip, knowing he's right, but can't control yourself. Kevin laughs lightly against your neck and presses his lips against yours, letting you moan into his mouth. Finding his tounge, you tease it as your hips move against his. The thunder booms harder from above and you jump slightly.

"It's okay...you're okay," Kevin tells you before kissing you again.

You moan quietly against his lips and grip his back harder when you feel his hips jerking against your harshly.

"Mmm, make me feel okay, Kevin," you say, sucking on his bottom lip.

He sets a hand behind your lower back and you drop one of your legs down to the side. Kevin tilts your hips slightly and then pulls you against him.

"Oh God," you moan loudly, the new friction sending your nerves into overload.

"Feel okay now?" he asks into your ear.

"Oh fuck, Kevin," you breathe, gripping his hips now.

"Ahh," he groans, pressing against you hard, his hips grinding you deeply into the mattress.

You breathing becomes short as he moves, and your toes curl slightly.

"Faster," you plead, lifting your hips against his.

Kevin obliges, his hips thrusting against yours at a rapid speed. Your lips part as your body becomes filled with fire, and you wrap your legs around his hips. Grinding against his thrusting hips for a moment, you finally dig your nails into his skin.

"Ohh, Kevin," you groan, moaning loudly several times before your body releases against his.
Thunder rumbled gently from above, and you hoped it drowned out your final moans.

Kevin is breathing quickly above you and you can feel his muscles tensing. You keep circling your hips against his until you hear him beginning to moan frequently. He kisses you deeply until you moan quietly, then breaks the kiss and barely rests his lips on yours. His breath is hot, his moans embedding themselves in your memory. His hips roll into yours one final time and with a deep growl, you feel his muscles shake lightly before he moans softly and becomes still.

The rain pours on the ceiling, hitting your window as well, but you barely hear it. You lick your lips and look at Kevin as he rolls off of you and lies beside you. The two of you lie there silently, looking at the covers that are above your heads.

"I...need to go take a shower," Kevin finally says.

You snort and cover your mouth as you laugh.

"What?" Kevin asks you, a smile playing on his lips.

"I just...this was the last thing I expected tonight. I was expecting a night of me in the fetal postion as it stormed, but instead you come in here and...wow."

"I told you you were okay," Kevin says, lying on his side and rubbing your arm.

"I know," you nod, lying on your side and moving close to him, kissing his cheek.

"You're safe with me. I...I want you to know that. I would never let anything happen to you. You're my best friend. My...I-I love you."

You look at him for a moment, then smile. "I love you, too."

He smiles back, obviously relieved, and holds you close for awhile.

"I really need to go take a shower," he says, looking down at you.

You flinch mildly from a clap of thunder and nod, finally sitting up and lifting the covers off of the two of you.

"Wow, it's cold out here," Kevin states, shivering.

"Kev?"

"Yeah?" he asks, looking at you.

"Come back to me?" you ask shyly.

Kevin's face softens and he kisses your forehead.
"Always," he says softly.

You smile and he gets out of the bed, heading for the door.

"Besides, it's supposed to storm all night."

"And?" you ask, confused.

"I think you need a little more practice relaxing during storms," he winks, heading out of your room.

You smile after he leaves and get back under the covers, waiting for him in the dark.
